Who We Are
Vibrant Surrey Encourages
We facilitate collaborative efforts to reduce poverty and addresses issues related to poverty, thereby enhancing the quality of life for all who call Surrey home.
Surrey is one of Canada's fastest growing municipalities. With a population of over 470,000, it is the province's second largest city. Its social infrastructure is challenged to keep pace with issues such as high unemployment and poverty, especially among recent immigrants, youth, women and Aboriginal people.
Vibrant Surrey is a coalition with a mission to reduce poverty in our city. We foster and support collaborative initiatives involving business, government and community agencies.
Since its initial conception in 2003, Vibrant Surrey has engaged partners, researched the state of poverty in Surrey and taken on the role of "Solutions Incubator."

What We Do
Our Principal Activities
We help grow local poverty reduction efforts by building networks and increasing opportunities for collaboration. We also provide access to learning and capacity building conferences and workshops.
Through collaborations with our members , we help create and fund economic development projects that make a real difference in people's lives.
And through participatory, community -based research, we try to understand the perspectives and reality of those who are affected by poverty in our community.
Vibrant Communities
Vibrant Surrey is part of a national network - Vibrant Communities - established as a ten-year program to promote and enable collaborative, community-based efforts against poverty. Thirteen cities across Canada adopted the Vibrant Communities model to address poverty and inequality in their communities. [read more ...]
